Louisville Scholar House

Built:
2008

Neighborhood:
Old Louisville

Few projects demonstrate Marian Development Group's commitment to people, neighborhoods and community like Louisville's Family Scholar House. This project, spearheaded by Louisville's Project Women and its administrative partner, Kentucky Housing Corporation, provides apartment living for unemployed or underemployed single parents (and their children) as they work toward completing their post-secondary education and becoming self-sufficient.

The development, which includes 56 two- and three-bedroom apartments, offers residents a stable living environment while providing essential life knowledge in vital areas like health, parenting, financial management, job-seeking and work skills, supported by onsite staff. A child development center adjacent to the apartments is managed by the University of Louisville's College of Education and Human Development.
